Fiber Arts are on display at the Washington Public Library this February.
Librarian LeAnn Kunz has been organizing the events for about a decade, “It’s basically just an annual celebration of everything fiber and textiles. We try to offer a variety of workshops and exhibits dealing with fiber, and hope a lot of people come out, and they’re free and open to everybody.” There are a variety of workshops from adults down to no sew projects for elementary students. Kunz says fiber arts includes everything from knitting to finding ways to recycling old clothing, “I think they’e kind of making a comeback; the term ‘handmade’ is almost becoming very precious now in our world of technology. So something that’s handmade and made out of fiber can be beautiful as well as functional.”
The library has a display of Pakistani textiles in the front entry case, and an exhibit of lace pieces in the Helen Wilson Gallery.
