It was a busy day at Columbus Community High School on Saturday, as they hosted the Southeast Iowa Super Conference tournament.
Highland had the best finish out of our area schools placing fifth out of 12 teams with 108 points. Pekin took home the conference title with 170 points. Brady Hahn (29-9) led the way for the Huskies with a first place finish at 145 lbs. He won all three of his matches with a fall in 3:32, a 6-1 decision, and 8-3 decision. Other top finishes included Cory Stewart (26-7) second at 138 lbs, Dan Burton (22-15) second at 160 lbs, Cullen Klebe (19-18) fourth at 126 lbs, and Bradley Rodgers (10-22) fourth at 195 lbs.
The host Wildcats took home seventh place with 106 points. Jared Kadel (34-1) continued to impress with a first place at 106 lbs. He won a pair of matches with a fall in 1:16 and an 8-4 decision. Cam Rice (32-6) placed second at 132 lbs and Tucker Bright (26-3) was third at 120 lbs.
WACO was right behind the Wildcats placing eighth with 85 points. The Warriors had a pair of first place finishes including Jaden Williams and Cody Crawford. Williams (31-8) won two matches at 126 lbs by a fall in 2:52 and a 6-4 decision. Crawford (35-2) placed first at 285 lbs by a fall in 1:22 and in 4:56.
Lone Tree placed 11th with 48 points. Aaron Slaughter (35-8) led them with a first place finish at 113 lbs by a fall in 21 seconds and 3:20.
