An organization that works to improve downtown Washington while bringing visitors to the area is celebrating it’s 10th anniversary this year.
Main Street Washington Director Sarah Grunewaldt shares what they’re doing to honor the milestone, “Part of our plan for this year is we’re going to do some special events that we don’t normally do throughout the year.” She explains they’re still nailing down the calendar, but are looking to expand Movies on Main Street and will be adding a beer tasting event, in addition to the wine tasting event that started last year.
Main Street Washington also works with business owners and property owners on improving buildings, and has access to design assistants who can help for free to maximize dollars and plan before meeting with contractors. In it’s decade in Washington, Main Street Washington has had a hand in helping with the renovation of the State Theater, removing the tin and opening windows in buildings on the squares, brick reworking, and the addition of several apartments to the second stories.
