The Iowa Mennonite School boys and girls basketball teams scored wins at Hillcrest Union Friday over the visiting Columbus Wildcats.

The IMS girls were a winner 49-39. IMS scored the first four of the game only to see Columbus score eight straight to take a lead at 8-4. Suzanna Yoder hit a three at the first quarter buzzer to give IMS a 13-10 lead and they wouldn’t trail the rest of the night. IMS led 26-18 at the half. They pulled away in the second half stretching the lead to as many as 15. Yoder led the way for IMS with 28, Alyssa Hershberger added 10 points. Anna Hamilton led the Wildcats with 10 points. With the win IMS is now 3-11 on the season, Columbus falls to 2-13.

In the boys game IMS pulled away in the second half to take a 51-31 win. Columbus scored the first five of the game, IMS responded with an 8-0 run and never trailed again, leading 12-9 after the first quarter and 27-18 at half. Iowa Mennonite pulled away in the third, going on a 17-5 run that lasted the entire frame. Cole Ours and Reggie Borntrager led IMS with 14 points each, Mitchell Schmeider had 10. Chepo Cardenas led Columbus with nine points. With the win IMS improves to 11-2, Columbus falls to 0-14.
