The Highland basketball teams welcome Iowa Mennonite School to town tonight to face off for a Southeast Iowa Super Conference matchup.
The Highland girls’ (10-3) had the upper hand against IMS (2-10) in their first matchup last month winning 57-33. Alyson Stokes is a player to look out for leading the Huskies with 16 points and 11 rebounds a game including 29 points in the first meeting between the two schools. Abbie Miller provides depth with an average of nine points and 10 rebounds a contest. The Huskies will have to tame Suzanna Yoder, who is second in the conference in scoring with 22 points per game including shooting 37% from behind the arc. Alyssa Hershberger averages seven points and nine rebounds a game.
For the boys’ Iowa Mennonite (9-2) took care of business in the first matchup winning 71-55. Mitchell Schmeider had a monstrous game in that one with 22 points and 20 rebounds. Cole Ours has been shooting lights out connecting on 50% of threes and averaging 16 points a game. Zack Lasek leads the Huskies (7-4) with a conference leading 21 points and 10 boards a night. Mason McFarland also averages double figures with 12 points a contest.
