The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls basketball teams split a pair of River Valley Conference contests Friday at North Cedar.

The Golden Hawk girls were winners in come from behind fashion 53-41. The Golden Hawks held a slim 11-10 lead after one quarter but North Cedar put together a 16-4 run that lasted the entire second quarter to take a 26-15 lead into the half. Mid-Prairie responded with a big third quarter, erasing the entire 11 point deficit, and taking a late lead on a Myah Lugar three point goal. North Cedar scored back to back baskets to open the final quarter and wrestle back the lead but Mid-Prairie answered one more time with back to back threes from Delaney Smith and the Hawks methodically pulled away down the stretch to secure the win. Addie Rath led Mid-Prairie with 14 points, Shae Becker finished with 12. The Golden Hawks are now 8-2 on the year.

In the boys game, North Cedar held off a Mid-Prairie second half charge to take a 59-50 win. Things were back and forth early with neither team holding a lead of more than four points through the games first 12 minutes. The Knights closed the first half on a mini run to take a 29-24 lead into the half. Out of the break Mid-Prairie continued to hang around with North Cedar holding a lead between two and five points for most of the third quarter. The Knights used a run at the start of the fourth to stretch the lead to 11, Mid-Prairie answered with a three from Dominick Pickard and another from Brad Tornow to get within five but that was as close as the Hawks would get down the stretch. Tom Butters led Mid-Prairie with a double double 11 points 11 rebounds. Cale Robertson also had 11. With the loss the Hawks are now 2-8 on the year.
