A snow-covered roadway contributed to a two-vehicle wreck near Wayland Tuesday.

According to the Iowa State Patrol the collision occurred at approximately 10:42 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 78 and Gabriel Avenue, east of Wayland. Sixty-one year-old Martin Frazer Jr. of Mount Pleasant was driving an SUV northbound on Gabriel Avenue when he was unable to stop at the intersection. Frazer proceeded through the stop sign and was struck on the front driver’s side by an SUV eastbound on Highway 78 driven by 27-year-old Stephen Dockendorff of Burlington.

Dockendorff and passenger 35-year-old Tracey Dockendorff were transported by ambulance to University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics. One 16-year-old male was transported by EMS to University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics, and one 14-year-old female was transported by AirCare. She was not wearing a seat belt.

Frazer was also taken by ambulance to the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics, he was not wearing a seat belt.

The incident remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol. The Henry County Sheriff’s Office, Wayland Fire Department, and Wayland First Responders assisted at the scene.
