The Washington wrestling team gets back on the mat tonight when they travel to Keokuk for their second conference dual of the year.

After last week’s conference dual win over Fairfield, Washington traveled to Mount Vernon over the weekend where they placed fifth out of 15 teams. Tristin Westphal-Edwards highlighted the day for the Demons placing first at 170 lbs, including winning an exciting 5-4 decision in the championship round. Mitchell Huisenga put in a solid day’s effort placing second at 285 lbs, Garrett Ikerd was third at 138 lbs, and Tristan Allender was third at 220 lbs.

The Chiefs do not fill a full lineup but have a few individuals that will be a tough match. At 132 lbs Brett Hammel is off to a fast 7-0 start in his senior campaign and he will go up against Washington’s Dillan Sanders. Huisenga will have his hands full at 285 lbs going up against Jerry Glenn, as he is 8-2 on the season.

The action gets started at 6:30 p.m. tonight at Keokuk High School. Tune into KCII starting at 6 p.m. to listen to all of the coverage.
