Residents in Washington County voted for who to represent their cities in Tuesday’s election.

In Ainsworth 334 voters were registered and 49 voted, or 14.67%. In Brighton 362 voters were registered and 79 voted, or 21.82%. Newcomer David Hagans was elected as mayor; he ran against incumbent Robert B. Farley. In Crawfordsville 28.5% voted as 193 were registered and 55 voted. For the City of Kalona 10.47% of registered voters turned in ballots with 1719 registered and 180 who voted. Incumbents Mark Robe, Joe Schmidt, and Craig Spitzer were all reelected to serve on the Kalona City Council. Incumbent Allen Schneider was reelected as Riverside Mayor and incumbent Tom Sexton and Andy Rodgers received the most votes to be elected to Riverside City Council. Of the 779 residents in Riverside who were registered, 213 voted for 27.34%. For the non-contested mayoral and council races in Wellman 7.32% of the 1011 registered voters completed ballots, for a total of 74. In the non-contested races in West Chester 20 of its 92 registered residents, or 21.74%, voted in the election.
