Authors are being challenged and prompted throughout November for NaNoWriMo.

Director of the Washington Public Library Debbie Stanton explains what NaNoWriMo is, “It stands for National Novel Writng Month. It’s always in November and the idea is to encourage people to write their own novels. Really they just say start writing and keep writing, because that’s the number one job of an author is to just write.” Stanton says library employee Kayla Nelson has some prompts to help get people thinking creatively, “Again, the point is just to write. And then she also has some great challenges if you’re not into writing, like basically to create something; so she has challenges if you want to create your own film, and if you wanted to create a graphic novel or comic book, or things like that.”

There are two upcoming events for NaNoWriMo at the library. On November 17th there is a mid-month creator hang out at 1 p.m. for teens and adults. And on November 29th there will be a movie night to wrap up the month with The Martian.
