A Washington resident has been selected to serve as District Associate Judge for Sub-District 8A, a vacancy which was left by Crystal Cronk of Sigourney.
Cronk was appointed to serve as District Court Judge. Daniel Kitchen was unanimously selected. Kitchen received his law degree with distinction from the University of Iowa College of Law in 1994. He was an associate with Stanley, Lande & Hunter, PC from 1995-1997 when he moved to Washington. He later was a partner with the firm of Tindal & Kitchen, PLC from 2000-2009, then he opened his solo law practice. Kitchen has served as Washington County Magistrate since he was appointed in 2003. Kitchen is a member of the Iowa State Bar Association, Iowa Magistrates Association, and Washington County Bar Association. He served as a member of the Grievance Commission of the Supreme Court of Iowa and currently serves on the Iowa Supreme Court Commission on Continuing Legal Education. Kitchen will assume his duties as Associate District Judge on November 13.
