As temperatures fall in November we may be rushing to turn up the heat and put on warm layers.

Washington County Conservation will educate toddlers about how mammals stay warm with their “Little Dippers: Warm Fuzzies” program this weekend. Naturalist Pam Holz says this is a sensory program, geared towards those three years of age and younger. Holz hosts these programs to spark toddlers’ curiosity, “The young kids, they get excited about little things. And it’s a great way to introduce something in a safe way, to say, ‘Hey, here’s a nice fur.’ And you don’t have to worry about the animal biting you. It’s starting their enthusiasm for the outdoors which is really cool.”

Holz will tell a story about animals best prepared for the cold with their built-in fur coats, and explore furs of native animals in the region. The group will also take a short hike, weather permitting, and make a craft finding the rainbow in nature. This free program takes place at the Conservation Education Center at Marr Park in Ainsworth Saturday at 10 a.m.
