Freezing temperatures have settled in and the Washington Public Library is working to Warm Up Washington.

The coat drive began earlier this fall and director of the library Debbie Stanton tells KCII News it has been successful. In fact, it’s been so successful, they’re coat supplies need replenished, “We had many, many donations of really beautiful, new coats for kids. And actually, a lot of them have gone out already. So I know we’re already running really low on girls’ coats.” The coats are free for people in the community. Library staff set up a boutique of the donated items on the lower level of the library so people can find items they like and try them on.

As residents clean out closets and get their coats out for the season, gently used or new items are welcomed for Warm Up Washington. Items can be dropped off at the Washington Public Library. Stanton recommends monetary donations be given to HACAP as the organization helps with such efforts year-round.
