The KCII listening area will have many representatives in Fort Dodge Saturday for the Iowa High School State Cross Country Championship meet.
The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls teams both qualified for the meet by winning the state qualifier team championships at Central College in Pella October 19th. This is the second straight year both teams qualified for the trip to Fort Dodge. Last season the Golden Hawk boys won the team championship in class 2A while the girls finished third but saw Anna Hostetler take home the individual title.
The Washington Demons will be represented by Brennan Horak. Horak, a senior, qualified for the state meet with a 14th place finish at the qualifier in Pella. He is the first Demon boys runner to make the trip to Fort Dodge since 1999.
Iowa Mennonite will send Levi Geyer to state this weekend. This is the second straight year that Geyer has qualified for Fort Dodge. He punched his ticket by finishing seventh at the state qualifier in Solon. He finished 25th in the class 1A race in 2016.
The Winfield-Mt. Union Wolves will have Pearl Kreiger-Coble on the course Saturday in Fort Dodge. The senior made her way to the state meet with a seventh place finish at the state qualifier last week in Solon.
The Highland Huskies send Taylor Sublette to the class 1A race at state. Sublette, a freshman, qualified for Fort Dodge with a 12th place finish at last week’s meet in Solon.
