In the final tune up before the postseason the Washington football team dominated in normal fashion on Friday night in Fort Madison defeating the Bloodhounds 63-15.
The Demons wasted no time scoring, as they did not punt all night and that translated into an offensive clinic. In the first drive the Demons went to their bread and butter on a 45-yard fade pass from Luke Turner to Jaivonn Willis for the score. This was the first of three touchdown connections these two had in the first half including one from 34 yards out and another from one yard out. Dalton Myers showed his shiftiness on a 20-yard scamper that opened the floodgates on the Bloodhound defense. Making his first return on the offensive side of the ball since week two, Ryan Reighard made the most of his three carries running in a pair of touchdowns each from 15 yards. The icing on the cake came late in the first half when a Fort Madison fumbled was scooped up by Tanner Murphy and he stumbled his way 34 yards in for the score. The Demons had a comfortable 49-0 lead at the break.
The starters played one play of the second half and that was a 60-yard run by Jack Redlinger in for the score. With the running clock the second team added one more score on a 47 yard run by Garret Ikerd to secure the 63-15 victory.
Turner finished the night eight of 12 through the air for 142 yards and four touchdowns. Redlinger had six rushes for 159 yards and a score on the ground. Willis had the three receptions for three touchdowns on 79 yards. Defensively Murphy had the scoop and score along with five tackles and a pair of sacks.
With the win the Demons finish the regular season with a record of 8-1 as Fort Madison drops to 4-5. The Demons travel to Davenport Assumption (7-2) Friday for the first round of the class 3A playoffs. Start time is scheduled for 7 p.m. and you can listen to the broadcast on KCII starting at 6:30.
