Bohemian and Czech culture will be embraced at the Ainsworth Opera House this weekend.
Miera Kim and Carey Bostian, violinist and cellist of Red Cedar Chamber Music, will perform the program, “CzechStrings” Saturday at 7 p.m.
Event organizer Michael Zahs says Red Cedar Chamber Music has been performing in Ainsworth for 20 years, “They very much like coming to the Ainsworth Opera House. The acoustics are very good and we have a good following. And when you pair the food with the concert it’s just a fabulous evening experience.”
A Bohemian himself, Zahs has selected the menu for a Bohemian-inspired dinner that will precede the concert at 6 p.m. Bohemia was the former name of the western region of the Czech Republic. According to the University of Iowa, Czechs settled in Iowa as early as 1850, with Cedar Rapids becoming one of the Iowan focal points of their immigration. Zahs says the dinner paired with the Czech music will be a delight for those of Czech descent. This concert series is supported in part by the National Endowment for the Arts.
