The Washington Community School District has cancelled classes for today following concerning messages on school safety.

Law enforcement is investigating an incident of a student posting a threat to SnapChat Thursday night. Superintendent Jeff Dicks tells KCII News, “We will be working closely with local law enforcement to ensure a safe environment.” At this time, the school’s evening activities will go on as scheduled. Police are aware of the incident and are investigating. KCII News will bring you more information as it becomes official.

The closure includes Washington High School, Washington Middle School, Lincoln Elementary, Stewart Elementary, and St. James Elementary.
