History was made in Donnellson on Tuesday when the Winfield-Mt. Union cross country teams experienced their first meet wins in almost 10 years when both the girls and boys teams won the titles.

The historic night for the Wolves started with the girls claiming the title with 33 points. Central Lee was the next best team with 48 points. WMU had three runners in the top five including Pearl Kreiger-Coble claiming the meet title in a time of 21:21. Cecilia Hemsworth was not far behind placing second and Farrah Nelson managed fifth. To round out the Wolves’ scoring was Whitney Vantiger in 12th, Isabella Mertens 13th, Johndree Harns 14th, and Fionna Sparrow 16th.

The boys kept the good times rolling as they claimed the title with 31 points, 14 points better than second place Van Buren. The Wolves swept the individual titles when Brody Barton won the event with a time of 18:23. Jared Kadel had a successful night placing third, Asa Gipple was seventh, and Jacob Kongable eighth. Rounding out the Wolves’ scoring was Dane Sweezer in 12th, Bryant Holtkamp in 14th, and Nolan Ross claimed 15th.

The Wolves will look to continue their dominance today when they travel to Fort Madison.
