While Iowa’s cash rent average per acre dropped from $235 in 2016 to $231 in 2017, it remained steady for Washington County’s non-irrigated cropland.

According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Washington County’s rent averaged $240 per acre, the highest in the southeast Iowa region. Benton County had the highest cash rent for non-irrigated cropland in the state at $273 per acre. Iowa’s overall pasture rent averaged at $54 per acre. Also, pasture rent in Washington County went up from $50 last year to $63 this year.
