Two people who serve on the Washington City Council announced they will not be seeking re-election.

At Tuesday’s council meeting At-Large representative Kathy Salazar and Mayor Sandra Johnson each announced they will not be filing papers to be on the ballot. Currently Ward 4 councilman Jaron Rosien has decided to run for mayor. Rosien tells KCII News, he’s seeking this position to continue to serve the community and assist with ongoing projects.

The deadline to file papers to be on the ballot for city council is September 21st. The four positions for the Washington City Council that will be on this fall’s ballot are Ward 2 currently held by Steven Gault, Ward 4, At-Large, and mayor.The election will be held November 7th.
