Two teams that are coming off of dominating wins to start the season in the Golden Hawks and Demons will duke it out tonight on the gridiron for an area battle.

Both offenses were on display in their 2017 debuts including the Demons doing damage on the ground with 360 yards and seven touchdowns. Luke Turner led the charge with 148 yards and a score. Ryan Reighard looked comfortable in his third year as play caller completing all three of his passes for a score. Last year when these teams met it was the Reighard show rushing for 296 yards and three scores while throwing for four more on 250 yards passing in the 49-14 win. Jaivonn Willis was the beneficiary of all four touchdowns that broke a school record for most receiving touchdowns in a game.

The Golden Hawk defense will look to right the ship from a year ago and last week was a big step forward in doing so. In their 42-12 win over Louisa-Muscatine the Golden Hawks stifled the Falcon attack to just 97 total yards and tallied a pair of interceptions. Offensively, Karson Gingerich looked solid completing nine of his 12 passes for 140 yards and a pair of scores. The Demon run defense will be challenged by Keaton Duwa who recorded three scores on the ground for 63 yards.

The chance for area bragging rights gets started at 7:30 p.m. tonight at Dwight G. Sattler field in Wellman. You can hear tonight’s broadcast on KCII starting at 7 p.m. for the Washington HyVee pregame show.
