A steer from Riverside will be part of the annual Governor’s Charity Steer Show at the Iowa State Fair.

It is the 35th year of the livestock show that raises money for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Iowa. The local steer is named Bunny and is owned by Macey Thomann. Bunny is sponsored by the Iowa Corn Growers Association and Iowa Corn Promotion Board, and will be shown by Kurt Hora, President of the Iowa Corn Growers Association. In total, 25 steers will be led around the ring by celebrities and then will be sold at auction. Each of the animals shown is owned by an Iowa youth and the sponsors reimburse the owner for the cost of the animal and chose the celebrity showman. Since the show began in 1983 nearly $3 million has been raised. The steer show begins at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Iowa State Fair.
