The Kalona City Council awarded the final contract bid packages for the community center project.

The council held a special meeting Tuesday to select two bids. The paving and surface work was awarded to Bushong Construction Inc. of Montezuma. Bushong Construction proposed a $88,400 budget. The building demolition package was awarded to DeLong Construction of Washington at a proposed budget of $92,520. The remaining contract bids were awarded by the council on July 13. The project’s progress so far has seen the removal of the steel roof, and removal of gym floors.
