The Columbus Community softball team saw their postseason end early after falling to Mount Vernon on Wednesday 12-0 in the first round of the class 3A regional playoffs.

The Mustangs made quick work of the Wildcats by jumping out to score two runs in the first inning and eight more in the second. They shut the door on the Columbus season by tallying two more in the third to force the mercy-rule win. Sammy Moss led the way for the Mustangs going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

With the win Mount Vernon moved to 26-15 on the year and advances to the semifinal regional round. The Wildcats end their season with a 2-25 record and lose three players to graduation including Shania Boyd, Bailey Stroud, and Jayden Poehler.
