A man was arrested at the scene of a fire east of West Chester Tuesday morning.

According to the Washington County Communications Office, at 7:09 a.m. dispatch received a call for a small garage on fire. Washington Fire Department, West Chester QRS, and Washington County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene. The fire was extinguished. Authorities arrested 27-year-old Darian Lee Patterson of West Chester on an Iowa City warrant for failure to appear for initial appearance in reference to operating while intoxicated second offense. Extradition arrangements were made with Johnson County. Patterson posted the $2,000 cash or surety bond.

*UPDATE: Since this story was initially published, the Johnson County Clerk of Court states the charge of probation violation was dismissed. (7/12/17)
