Due to the 4th of July holiday the Washington City Council will meet Wednesday evening.
The council usually meets the first Tuesday of the month. On the agenda for Wednesday is a public hearing regarding the plans and estimate for the water treatment plant improvements. The existing treatment building is from 1992 and work includes a building addition, chemical storage, reverse osmosis treatment systems, new high service pumps, electrical and controls, and demolition of the 1924 treatment building. Base bid amounts ranged from $4.9 million to nearly $5.9 million. After the public hearing the council will consider awarding the contract for the water treatment work.
The council will also consider awarding the architectural services contract for the new fire station project, a sale of real property, the third reading amending the animal control code, and a stop sign request at the intersection of South 9th and East Tyler. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. at the Washington Public Library.
