A state auditor report shows that a former Fairfield parks director misused a city credit card for several thousand dollars of personal purchases.

According to the state auditor in a report released June 30, former Parks and Recreation Director Derik Wulfekuhle admitted he used the city Visa credit card for personal purchases, and resigned effective March 7, 2016. The investigation identified $28,304.50 of improper and unsupported purchases including $5,169.86 from iTunes and $928.22 from Amazon. Wulfekuhle has been issued a summons from the Jefferson County Attorney’s Office with charges of ongoing criminal conduct, first degree theft, and non-felonious misconduct in office.
