Two teams that are familiar with each other, the Sigourney baseball and softball teams captured area bragging rights on Monday night when they took care of Keota in both matchups.

In baseball, the Savages were able to hold off a late Eagle push to take the victory 5-2. Scoring a run in the first inning, Sigourney held that 1-0 score heading into the sixth inning. The offense finally broke out in the sixth when the Savages managed four runs to make for a comfortable 5-0 lead. The Eagles made it interesting in the bottom half of the inning by scoring a pair of runs, but it was not enough as Sigourney held on for the win. Five Sigourney hits contributed to the scoring including a two-RBI single by Kyle Weber. Payton Schauf got the win going six innings on the bump giving up two runs on five hits. Mac Conrad shut the door in the seventh throwing a perfect 1-2-3 inning for the save. With the win Sigourney improves to 11-6 on the year with Keota dropping to 8-8.

For the girls, it was all Savages as they made quick work of the Eagles winning 17-0 in three innings. Five Sigourney batters had a multi-hit night including Brooke Waechter who racked up four RBI. Offensive production came from all over as they managed 13 hits in the contest including four free passes. Kendall Streigle and Jordan Van Ee combined for three scoreless innings of one-hit ball. With the win the Savages improve to 17-11 on the year as the Eagles drop to 0-16.
