Today is the fourth and final day of Washington’s Summer Classic.
The event wraps up with Noche Latina with live music, ballet, food, and activities in Central Park until 5 p.m. Yesterday was the 70th annual Ridiculous Day in Washington followed by Flight Line Live at the airport, Friday was Family Day, and Thursday was Ag Day.
One aspect of Ag Day included agriculture safety at the Washington County Fairgrounds, which 87 youth attended. The camp was held for kids who have just completed kindergarten through third grade. The kids learned about general first aid, chemical safety, ATV safety, helmet safety, a 911 call simulation, and grain safety. They also learned about biosecurity measures when visiting multiple farms. Special speakers at the event presented by Washington County Extenion and Outreach as part o fthe Clover University summer camp schedule included Washington County Hospital and Clinics, Sinclair Tractor, WCDC, Mid-Prairie FFA, Keota FFA, Environmental Health, Washington County Extension, local farmer Brad Sheetz, ISU Crop Specialists Rebecca Vittetoe and Meghan Anderson, Rural Health and Safety speakers Roger Stutsman and Kevin Blind.
