The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk baseball team rolled through West Liberty Thursday night in Wellman, posting a pair of mercy rule victories over the Comets in a River Valley Conference doubleheader sweep.

The Golden Hawks took game one by a 10-0 score in five innings. Mid-Prairie wasted no time, scoring six in the opening frame. The Golden Hawks went up 8-0 with a pair of runs in the second and finished the scoring with two more in the fourth. Eight batters in the Golden Hawk lineup recorded a hit, led by Karson Gingerich who was three for three with two doubles and two driven in. Brad Tornow collected the win on the hill, he went all five innings, gave up three hits and struck out two.

In the nightcap the Golden Hawks won the contest 15-2 in just four frames. West Liberty pushed one run across in their half of the first, only to see Mid-Prairie respond with six tallies in the second, one more in the third and eight in the fourth to run away with the win. With the sweep, the Golden Hawks are 3-0 on the young season and will next be in action Tuesday when they travel to North Cedar.
