The Winfield-Mt. Union Wolves and the Sigourney Savage girls golf teams battled in the class 1A regional final meet Monday at Lagos Acres Golf Course in Keota.

The Wolves saw Sophie Kongable and Lexee Hartsock advance to the state meet as individuals with their performances. Kongable finished as medalist runner-up with her round of 86, Hartsock finished in fourth place with a 90. The Wolves narrowly missed qualifying the entire team for state, finishing with a 383 team score, tying Iowa Valley for the runner-up spot. However, the Tigers topped the Wolves on a cardback tiebreaker to the fifth overall score 105-116. Other scores for the Wolves included Sabrina Moody 100, Lauren Jamison 107, Haley Rodgers 116 and Lauren Hagge 117.

Sigourney finished in fourth place with their score of 413. The Savages were led by Kendall Streigle and her round of 95. Other scores for the Savages included Sydney Stiegle 98, Sam Bird 107, Lindsey Wheelon 113, Savannah Atwood 119 and Madi Schwenke 124.

The Class 1A State meet will be held at the American Legion Golf Course in Marshalltown.
