There is no team on the planet hotter right now than Iowa Mennonite School boys soccer.

Winners of five in a row over the last eight days, with four of those coming over ranked teams, the IMS boys brought home the Southeast Iowa Superconference Tournament title over the weekend. Saturday, action shifted to Mediapolis High School for the semifinals and finals of the tournament. IMS avenged an earlier season loss at the hands of Burlington, Notre Dame by blasting the Nike’s 5-1 Saturday morning. Cole Ours got the scoring started with a goal in the fourth minute and another in the sixth to stake IMS to an early 2-0. From there Ours just didn’t stop. He finished his natural hat trick with a header goal off of a corner kick to make it 3-0. Seth Danga added a tally right before the break to make it 4-0 IMS. Iowa Mennonite would get another goal from Ours in the second half, running his game total to four in a big win over the No. 10 team in the state.

In the championship match IMS met Columbus. The Wildcats had upset top seeded Danville in the semifinals by a 3-1 count. IMS had just beaten the Wildcats by a 2-1 score within the last week. This match was just as tight with IMS winning 3-2. Seth Danga put IMS on the board in the 28th minute, giving them a 1-0 lead, and Cole Ours header goal doubled the advantage to 2-0 going into the half. Louis Ettiene scored for IMS in the second to move the lead to 3-0. Columbus made a late push, getting goals from Ruben Paz and Kevin Piedra to get within 3-2 but IMS held on for the win.

With the title, IMS is now 11-3 on the year. They travel to Mount Vernon Thursday.
