The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls track teams racked up points and state track meet bids Thursday at their state qualifier meet in Eddyville.
The Golden Hawk boys took home the state qualifier meet team championship. The Golden Hawks had 10 automatic qualifying events for the state meet in Des Moines. Making the trip to Drake Stadium next week will be Levi Duwa in the discus and shot put as he won both events with throws of 167’1” and 55′.75” respectively. Zach Pettit won the title in the 1600 and 3200m runs. Peyton Miller took home the championship in the 400m hurdles. Marshal Teets won the 800 with Andrew Schwartz qualifying as runner up. The Mid-Prairie distance medley team also won the title. The Golden Hawk sprint medley and 4×400 teams qualified for state as runners up.
The Mid-Prairie girls finished second in the team race behind Prairie City Monroe. The Golden hawks qualified five events for next week’s state meet automatically. Anna Hostetler was a three time individual champion, winning the 800, 1500 and 3000. Marie Hostetler qualified as a runner up in the 800, 1500 and 3000. The Golden Hawk 4×800 team of Abby Tornow, Kate Cavanagh, and Anna and Marie Hostetler were champions and the 4×400 team qualified as a runner up.
Performance qualifiers for the state meet will be announced during the day on Friday. Stay tuned to KCII sports for a full list of state qualifiers. The state meet will be held next week at Drake Stadium in Des Moines.
