The quarterly Washington Economic Development Group (WEDG) report was provided at Tuesday’s Washington County Board of Supervisors meeting. Ed Raber, director of WEDG, explained there are three areas of emphasis education and brand advancement, coordinating with Washington County, and business services. Raber said some of the recent work included meeting with four property owners of potential residential land regarding development opportunities, presenting at the Iowa City Area Homebuilders Association, coordinating the annual “Teachers in the Workplace” event, and assisting Kalona with a Vision Iowa grant application and presentation. Also, he met with three businesses that are considering expansions or purchases, and facilitated visits with a site selector from Chicago and a building trades business wanting to move to Washington. Details were not made public regarding the potential business endeavors.
