The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls soccer teams are both on the pitch Monday against the Clear Creek Amana Clippers.

The Mid-Prairie boys have an even 1-1 record on the year after falling last week to No. 9 West Liberty 3-0. Five Golden Hawks have scored through the first two games of the season. Terrhyn Jacoby leads the way with three goals, Ryan Harapat, David Bayliss and Cian Borra each have two while Jason Tew has scored once. Tew has the team lead with two assists, Jacoby, Bayliss, Borra and Jose Juarez each have one. Ryan Miller has made five saves in goal.

Clear Creek Amana enters tonight’s game with a 1-1 overall record. In their last game they beat Vinton-Shellsburg 10-0. The Clippers are led on the year by Mitch Evans with three goals, Trevor King has two. Ian McDonald has 12 saves in goal for CCA. These two teams opened the year against one another in 2016 with the Clippers beating the Hawks 2-0.

The Mid-Prairie girls are set to open the season tonight when they travel to Tiffin. A season ago the Golden Hawks finished with a 5-7 record. The Golden Hawks return a strong core from a last year, including leading scorer Addie Rath who topped the team with 14 goals. The Golden Hawks will be looking to replace goalkeeper Jazmyne Jones who made 144 saves last season and their top three players in assists in Natalie Graber, Emma Troyer and Jenna Boller.

Clear Creek-Amana is 2-0 on the young season with a 6-1 win over Vinton-Shellsburg and a 3-1 win over Dyersville-Beckman to their credit. They were 14-6 a season ago. From last year CCA returns their leading scorer in Hannah Bormann with 28 goals, sixth most in the state. Goalkeeper Sarah Johnson is also back with her team leading 64 saves from last year. In the 2016 season opener CCA beat the Hawks 4-0.

Action begins in both matches at 5 p.m. with the boys in Wellman and the girls in Tiffin.
