The English River at Kalona has fallen below the flood stage. On Thursday, water levels rose slightly above the 14 foot flood stage, but as of 5 a.m. Friday the river receded to about 11 feet.

A flood warning is in effect at Wapello and Oakville until Saturday morning, with minor flooding forecast. The Iowa River at Lone Tree, Columbus Junction, Wapello and Oakville rose from Thursday to Friday morning. As of 5 a.m. at Columbus Junction the river was at 18.13 feet, below the 19 foot flood stage. At Wapello Friday morning the river was at 19.5 feet and rising, slightly below the 20 foot flood stage.

If you come to a flooded road, find an alternate route, turn around, don’t drown.
