Thursday evening Case Field hosted the annual Demon Relays.

Attending the meet were Mount Pleasant, Mid-Prairie, Fairfield, Fort Madison, Wapello, Highland, Columbus, WACO, Clear Creek Amana and Winfield-Mt. Union. The Mid-Prairie boys finished as runners-up in the team standings with 127 points. Mount Pleasant won the meet with 224 points. The Golden Hawks crowned five event champions on the night. Terrhyn Jacoby was a two-time winner taking the 100m dash with a time of 11.39 seconds. His winning time in the 200m was 24.03 seconds. Cary Schaefer won the 400 with a time of 53.64 seconds. Peyton Miller was a winner in the 400 hurdles with a time of 57.43 seconds. Levi Duwa won the shot put with a throw of 55′ 5 1/2”. Other top finishes for Mid-Prairie included a third place for the sprint medley team of Brent Foster, Jacoby, Quinn Schmidt and Schaefer, Floyd Evans third in the 3200 and 800, the 4×800 team of Zach Pettit, Andrew Schwartz, Miller and Marshall Teets as runners-up, the distance medley team of Miller, Miles Burrows, Grant Boyse and Schmidt in third, Kyle Miller fourth in the 400m, Schwartz third in the 400m hurdles and 1600m, the 4×100 team of Schaefer, Jacoby, Schmidt and Peyton Miller runners-up, the 4×400 team of Evans, Teets, Schwartz and Boyse as runners-up, Alex Yutzy fifth in the discus, Kyle Miller second in the high jump and the thrower relay of Yutzy, Jack Baker, Micah Gugel and Issac Boucher as runners-up.

The Washington boys finished fourth in the boys standings with 61 points. Top finishes for the Demons included a runner-up from the 800 sprint medley team of Sawyer Whisler, Chris Tapia, Kyle Schindler and Ethan Hunt, a fourth place finish from Brennan Horak in the 3200, a fifth place for the shuttle hurdle relay team of Caleb Bex, Mario Tapia, Cade Hennigan and Kyle Anderson, Whisler third in the 100m dash, the distance medley team of Kyle Dallmeyer, David Mares, Justin Simmering and Anderson fourth, Hunt third in the 400, a runner-up finish from the 4×200 team of Mario Tapia Tanner Murphy, Whisler and Schindler, Bex runner-up in the 100 hurdles, a third place from the 4×100 team of Mario Tapia, Murphy, Schindler and Whisler, fifth place from the thrower relay team of Keith Zabel, Jadon Crawford, Mark Engelken, and Colin Murphy, and fifth place for the 4×400 team of Hunt, Kyle Anderson, Chris Tapia and Collin Greiner.

The Washington girls finished as runners-up in the team standings with a total of 120 points. Mount Pleasant won the championship with 166 points. The Demons took home eight event championships on the night. Hannah Anderson was a three time winner, taking the 100m dash in 12.86 seconds, she won the 200 in 26.95 seconds and the long jump, clearing 16’8”. Ashley Telleen was a two time winner, taking the 400 in 1:04.24 and 400 hurdles in 1:10.61. The Demons other championships came in relay events taking the 800 sprint medley with a team of Victoria Barber, Demeri Bell, Isabel Bailey and Telleen with a time of 1:59.26. the 4×200 team of Leah Marek, Bailey, Makenzi Marek and Jenah Greiner were winners in 1:54.83. The 4×100 team of Leah and Makenzi Marek, Greiner and Anderson also won the title in 52.58 seconds. Other top finishes for the Washington girls included the 4×800 team of Meredith Raber, Halle Leyden, Addison Six and Brooke Stout in fourth, the shuttle hurdle relay team of Barber, Abby Voss, Bell and Leyden in fourth, the distance medley team of Bell, Barber, Olivia Pacha and Raber in third, Leah Marek third in the 200, the thrower relay of Gracie Greiner, Pacha Kira Ropp and Lupita Delarosa in third, Makenzie Marek third in the high jump and Isabel Bailey fifth in the long jump. After the meet, Washington head girls track coach Stephanie Tschantz talked about her team’s night.

The Washington and Mid-Prairie boys will next be in action at Wapello Tuesday, and the Washington girls will travel to Fort Madison Tuesday.
