Multiple KCII area boys track teams will compete today in Des Moines County. Athletes from Washington, Columbus, Highland and Winfield-Mount Union will compete in the Falcon Relays hosted by West Burlington High School.

The Demons, Wildcats, and Huskies opened their outdoor track season last Tuesday at the Steve Roth Relays in Washington. Columbus won the Class C title and finished third overall with 153 points. The Wildcats registered first-place finishes in three events in Class C. They included Tommie Pretz in the long jump (18’10”), Abel Mena in the 400-meter dash (55.01), and the 4×200 meter relay (Angel Hernandez, Carter Colby, Chance Colby, and Danny Fuentez; 1:43.6). Highland placed sixth in Class C with 40 points, while Washington finished sixth in Class A with 26 points.

The Falcon Relays will also feature competitors from Central Lee, Danville, Fort Madison, Keokuk, Mount Pleasant and New London. Results of the meet will be split into two classes. Class A is Washington, Fort Madison, Keokuk, Mount Pleasant, and West Burlington-Notre Dame. Class B is comprised of Central Lee, Columbus, Danville, Highland, New London, and Winfield-Mount Union. First events will begin at 4:30 p.m. at West Burlington High School.
