Snapping a long losing streak helped a senior on the Columbus Wildcats boys’ basketball team (2-20) get named to the Southeast Iowa Super North’s all-conference team. The coaches of the league released this year’s squads, and Carter Colby represents the Wildcats on the second team.

Colby was Columbus’ leading scorer with 291 points, the ninth-most in the league. He tallied a team-best 21 points and swiped five steals to lead the Wildcats to a 49-48 victory over the Louisa-Muscatine Falcons (4-18) on January 24. The win snapped a 39-game losing streak for Columbus dating back to February 13, 2015. Colby was also second on the team with 90 rebounds and 45 assists for the season.

Tommy Pretz and Abel Mena are Columbus’ honorable mention selections.
