The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawks host the Washington Demons tonight in a non-conference basketball doubleheader at Tim Grady Gymnasium in Wellman.

The Mid-Prairie girls come into tonight ranked No. 14 in class 3A in the latest poll from the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union. The Hawks have an overall record of 14-6. In their last game they were beaten by No. 8 in 2A Cascade 39-35. Addie Rath led the Mid-Prairie attack with 18 points. On the season the Hawks are led by Rath scoring 13 points per game. She also has the team lead and is second in the conference with 90 assists. Ireland Hostetler leads Mid-Prairie on the glass and is fourth in the conference with 169 boards.

The Washington girls enter tonight with an overall record of 5-14. In their last game they were beaten by the Keokuk Chiefs. On the season the Demons are led by Sarah Nacos who is averaging 13 points per game, third best in the Southeast Conference. Morgan Brinning leads the Demons with 36 assists on the year, ninth best in the conference, and Brooke Stout leads Washington on the glass with 129 rebounds, fourth best in league play.

These two teams met last year with the Golden Hawks taking a 52-30 win at Washington Middle School.

The Mid-Prairie boys come into tonight with an overall record of 6-14. In their last game they were beaten by Cascade 55-29. On the season the Hawks are led by Caleb Statler averaging nine points per game. Statler also has the team lead with 108 rebounds, eighth best in the conference. He leads the RVC with 44 blocked shots. Brad Tornow is best on the team and second in the conference with 63 assists.

The Washington boys enter tonight with an overall record of 6-11 on the year, after beating Keokuk on Monday night. The Demons are led on the season in all major categories by Jaivonn Willis. He averages 11 points per game, eighth best in the Southeast Conference, has dished out 36 assists, ninth best in the conference and has pulled down 86 rebounds, sixth best.

These two teams met last year with Washington taking a 66-53 win at home.

Tonight has been designated Senior Night as well as Stand Up To Cancer Night. The crowd is encouraged to participate in the “pink out” by wearing pink articles of clothing. Along with Seniors, the Golden Hawks will also be honored the state champion boys cross country team, the third place girls cross country team, individual state cross country champion and Gatorade Girls Cross Country Runner of the year for the state of Iowa Anna Hostetler, and the state academic achievements of the cross country and volleyball teams.
