The Washington City Council will meet in special session tonight to discuss a grant applications to the Washington County Riverboat Foundation and for a fiscal year 2018 budget workshop. According to a memo from City Administrator Brent Hinson, the city council submitted four projects to the WCRF for municipal grant funding earlier this month and received favorable response on two items. The two items with positive response were a donation to the auditorium and the Washington incentive fund partner program. The South 15th Street project and improvements to the fire station, police department and city hall had negative responses.

At tonight’s meeting, the council will consider a resolution revising the city’s application for the four projects to make it more attractive to the grant committee. Washington has used the municipal grant dollars in years past to beef up capital improvements. The meeting begins at 6 p.m. at the Washington Public Library.
