Remember to clear sidewalks not only of snow, but also of ice. Per code, residents in the City of Washington have 24 hours after ice has formed or snow has stopped falling to clean sidewalks. Steve Donnolly, building and zoning official for the City of Washington, says the city’s ordinance is to keep people safe and there are many people who walk across town. If it is not removed, the City may do so and levy the cost of the work against the property. Before that happens the city will leave a note on the door reminding residents to clear their sidewalks.
