David Hora shows the Washington School Board his drone and how he used it to help with agriculture classes this fall. Photos by Sally Y. Hart

One Washington High School student spent his sweet sixteen birthday in an unusual way – by talking to the school board about drones. David Hora is a student in the agriculture program at the high school and flew his personal drone this fall to help scout crops. The FFA land lab has acres students farm near the school and on the north side of town. Hora used the video footage from his drone in a promotional video. He explained he flew the drone while sitting in the combine and he’s done work with his brother’s company, Continuum Ag. Hora showed how he uses an app and the controls to gather the data.
