In their mission to help develop good early childhood practices, the Kalona Public Library has teamed up with Washington County Public Health to offer a program to help mothers. According to Youth Services Librarian Shawna Riggins, they are hosting a breastfeeding support group at the library. The group is open to expectant and new mothers. They can talk to a certified lactation counselor, get their baby weighed, get advice, and talk with other mothers in the program. The group meets the second Friday of every month from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., right after toddler time. There is no need to sign up for the group ahead of time, but anyone with questions is encouraged to reach out to the Kalona Library or Washington County Public Health.
