The Iowa Mennonite School boys and girls basketball team’s travel to Pekin Tuesday night for a Superconference doubleheader with the Panthers.
The IMS girls enter play with an overall record of 0-7. In their last game before break they lost to Louisa-Muscatine 48-36. On the year IMS is led by Suzanna Yoder who is fourth in the Southeast Iowa Superconference at 18 points per game. She also leads the team with 17 assists, 12 steals and 40 rebounds.
Pekin comes into tonight’s contest with an overall record of 5-3. In their last game before break they edged Columbus 56-55 in a come from behind win. Maci Gambell led the Panthers’ attack with 22 points and 15 rebounds in the victory. Gambell leads the Panthers in scoring and is second in the conference at 20 points per game, her 98 rebounds are best on the team, best in the conference and second most in the state. Zoey Wright is best on the Panthers and 10th in the league with 18 assists.
These two teams met twice a year ago with the Panthers taking both matchups.
The Iowa Mennonite boys enter tonight with a 5-3 overall record, winners of three straight, including a 58-45 win over Louisa-Muscatine before break. On the year Cole Yoder leads IMS, scoring 11 points per game, his 38 rebounds are best on the team. Nick Yutzy leads the team and the conference with 38 assists. His 25 steals are also best in the league and eighth best in the state.
Pekin comes into tonight with a 3-4 overall record. In their last game before break they beat Columbus 73-65. Ryan Millikin leads the Panthers in scoring at 15 points per game, fifth best in the conference. Caleb Comstock tops the Panthers with 14 assists. Levi Long is ninth in the conference with 40 rebounds.
These two teams met twice a year ago with Pekin sweeping the series.
