The Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys and girls basketball teams make their first trip of the season to the north division of the River Valley Conference tonight to take on Northeast Goose Lake.

The Mid-Prairie girls are 1-1 on the season and ranked No. 14 in class 3A in the latest poll from the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Association. Mid-Prairie posted a come from behind victory 62-51 at Tipton Tuesday night, led by 24 points and 13 rebounds from Ireland Hostetler. On the early season, Addie Rath is the leading scorer at 15 points per game, she also holds the team lead with 12 assists and Hostetler has pulled in 17 rebounds to lead the Hawks.

Northeast Goose Lake is 0-2 entering play tonight with losses to Cascade and Monticello. On the year the Rebels are led by Shauna McAleer at 13 points per game. Jayna Farrell has the team lead with two assists and Brenna Seeser has five rebounds to lead the Rebels. These two teams met in Wellman a year ago with Mid-Prairie taking a 55-46 win behind 22 points from Ali Butters and 15 from Addie Rath.

In the night cap of the double header the Golden Hawk boys will be in action. They come into tonight at 0-1 on the year after dropping a heart breaker to Tipton on the road in their season opener 71-69 in overtime. Northeast comes into tonight as one of the favorites in the north division. They rolled Monticello Tuesday night in their season opener 71-35, led by Zach Parson’s 26 points. These two teams met a year ago with the Rebels taking the contest 67-39 in Wellman. The Hawks were led by Caleb Statler’s seven points and seven rebounds.

Action begins tonight at Northeast High School with tipoff of the girls game at six and the boys to follow.
