The Iowa Mennonite School and Mid-Prairie Golden Hawk boys basketball teams matched up Friday night in their annual Hall of Pride Game at Tim Grady Gymnasium in Wellman.

The game does not count on either team’s record, but serves as a tune up for the regular season that starts on Tuesday. IMS won the contest 72-50. IMS held a 16-9 lead after the first quarter and extended that advantage to 31-21 at the halftime break. IMS outscored the Hawks 21-18 in the third quarter taking a 52-39 lead into the final frame where the stretched the lead to 22 in the win.

IMS forced 28 Mid-Prairie turnovers, while the Golden Hawks out rebounded Iowa Mennonite 29-16. IMS had three players finish in double figures led by Nick Yutzy with 21 points and eight assists. Cole Ours had 14 points and Reggie Borntrager finished with 11. Mid-Prairie was led by Ryan Slaubaugh, Derek Rich and Tom Butters, all with eight points. Butters added 10 rebounds. Mid-Prairie opens their season Tuesday when they travel to Tipton. IMS opens the year Tuesday when they travel to Lone Tree.
