Mid-Prairie High School Principal Jay Strickland officially started on August 1st, and though he still relatively new, he believes so far things have gone great for him at the school. “It’s been a smooth transition, and I still obviously feel like there’s a lot to learn. We have a lot of great things going on here, district-wide and here at the high school. There’s a big learning curve there, but everybody on the team here and throughout the district has been very supportive and helpful.” He adds, it’s been just like any other new challenge or transition, where each week he’s able to settle in more and more.

He feels his best accomplishment so far has been the relationships he’s formed with both the staff and the students. He’d like to continue to work on his instructional leadership, which is something he said he was very successful with at his previous school in Indiana. Strickland added, he headed into the job with high expectations, and those have all been surpassed. He’s been overwhelmed with the support of not just the district, but also the Mid-Prairie community. He’s looking forward to continuing at the school and is excited to help it grow.
