Iowa’s drought conditions remained stagnant from last week to this week. According to the U.S. Drought Monitor about 4.9% of Iowa is abnormally dry currently. This dry area is in south-central Iowa. At this time last year about 8.4% of the state was abnormally dry.

According to this week’s crop progress and condition report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, subsoil moisture in southeast Iowa is 19% short and 69% adequate. In southeast Iowa topsoil moisture is rated at 10% very short, 16% short, and 72% adequate. Rain is in the forecast for the KCII-listening area this weekend, listen to KCII for weather updates.
