Four bids to farm county land were opened in the order they were received Tuesday at the Washington County Board of Supervisors meeting. Supervisor Chairman Richard Young explained the land is 100.5 acres tillable, 8.4 acres in set aside and 4.1 acres is trees. The four initial bids ranged from $175 per acre to $210 per acre. The farmers were then able to increase their bids if they desired and the dollar figure increased. The final bid was $270 by Jeff and Jason Bell. The previous lease was for $265 per acre.
